Biography

Sarah was born before 1730. Estimate based on approximate birth of son Edward Price in 1746-1747 as he was the oldest child in the family according to placement in his father's will. Sarah passed away before September 1796 when Edward's property was sold by surviving brothers and sisters. Edward bequeathed his property to his brother Zachariah to care for his Mother as long as she shall live, then be sold and proceeds divided among his brothers and sisters. [1]

Warrants and Surveys of the Northern Neck of Virginia place the family of John and Sarah Price in the vicinity of Hawksbill Creek in what was then named Augusta County but later became Frederick County and lastly Shenandoah County. The location did not change, only the county name. [2] [3] [4]

During the time of the French and Indian War, this family and neighbors retreated to Culpeper County. Sampson Price in his Revolutionary War Pension Application says they returned to Frederick County about 1767. At this time the family resided on 290 acres originally patented to Lorence (Lawrence) Garr. It was this 290 acres that was divided between the three oldest sons, Edward, John and Thomas. It is this will that also identifies the wife of John Price Senior as Sarah [5]

The surviving children of Sarah maiden name unknown Price are identified in a 1796 Deed: Brothers and Sisters of Edward Price deceased to Abraham Pence. "This indenture made the fifth day of September in the year of Our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety six between John Price and Sarah his wife, Thomas Price and Ruth his wife, Sampson Price and Delilah his wife, the said John Price, Thomas Price and Sampson Price are Brothers and devisees of Edward Price dec"d. who was a son and devisee of John Price deceased late of County of Shenandoah and state of Virginia ,William Tyre (Tyree) and Elizabeth his wife, William Turner and Sarah his wife, Benjamin Grigsby and Mary his wife, Collan Mitcham and Rachel his wife, and Ann Price. the said Elizabeth, Sarah, Mary, Rachel and Ann are Sisters and devisees of Edward Price deceased who was one of the sons and devisees of John Price deceased of one part and Abraham Pence of said County of Shenandoah..." [6]

John Price second named son is last recorded in Shenandoah tax records 1799. After that date only son Stephen and widow Sarah Price are named. [7] The third named son Thomas Price was born 22 April 1750. [8] Son Sampson Price Born 24 June 1761 in Culpeper County. [9] The last born son Zachariah appears to also be deceased by September 1796 as he does not share in the division of Edward Price property.

Do you have information about Sarah Brown, Randolph or Brockman? Please contribute to her biography. Everything on WikiTree is a collaborative work-in-progress. Sarah Brown, Randolph or Brockman are names created by individuals desiring to link to earlier families of Virginia. No primary evidence exists for this. Connections to Henrico, Hanover, Middlesex, Cumberland and Halifax counties can all be proven false which is a document I am currently writing. I will be adding these sources to the correct person as I find time. DStone

Price-8600 and Brown, Randolph or Brockman-1 are not ready to be merged because: This merge is somewhat wrong it would seem. It is not the custom to make the profile 'lnab' more confusing than when we start the merge process. Please research this Sarah Price and see if we can get just one last name for her lnab. Thanks, Cindy Williams Lesure
